THINKING ABOUT GETTING YOUR RIBO 2 (UNRESTRICTED – TECHNICAL) LICENSE?

If you’ve been a RIBO 1 broker for 2 or more years now, you might be considering moving up and getting your RIBO 2 (Unrestricted – Technical) license.  This gives you more freedom, responsibility, and allows you to move up the ladder in the industry.  But before you start studying, there is something you should know.

I wanted to write this short PSA about the different paths you can take to getting your Unrestricted – Technical license.

THE 2 WAYS YOU CAN GET YOUR RIBO 2 LICENSE:

TAKE THE RIBO 2 EXAM

This is the most straight forward way to do it, it’s probably the quickest but it’s also (in my opinion) the most difficult.  The Unrestricted – Technical Only exam is 3 hours long and made up of 3 parts.  You need at least a 60% in each part, and an overall total of 75% to actually “pass” the exam.

GET YOUR CAIB DESIGNATION

If you have your CAIB designation, you are eligible to apply for equivalency and get your Unrestricted Technical license without having to take the actual exam.

Getting your CAIB Designation involves passing 4 exams: CAIB 1, 2, 3 & 4.  This will obviously take longer but it might be a good path to take depending on how much time you have.

The advantages:

  • You’ll be killed 2 birds with one stone – getting your CAIB Designation & Technical license at the same time.
  • The content is broken up into 4 exams so there is not as much to memorize for each.
  • The requirements are not as strict.  As long as you can score a 60% on each exam, you pass.

More info can be found on the RIBO website.
