Even though the LLQP exam is multiple choice and open book, it can be pretty challenging for a lot of people. Here are 5 LLQP exam tips to help you pass on the first try!

LLQP EXAM TIP #1 – KNOW THY ENEMY

If you want to pass the exam, you first need to know what you’re dealing with. I won’t go into too much detail here because we have another article on LLQP exam information but there are 4 modules to the LLQP exam:

  1. Life Insurance
  2. Accident & Sickness Insurance (A&S)
  3. Segregated Funds & Annuities
  4. Ethics and Professional Practice (Common Law or Quebec version)

There’s a lot to study here but fortunately, CISRO has released an LLQP curriculum and a Life Insurance Competency Profile to help you know what to focus on.

LLQP EXAM TIP #2 – READ CAREFULLY

Make sure you read the questions carefully because they like to put in a lot of tricks, double negatives, or little words like “NOT” that can change the entire meaning of the question.

They also like to throw in a bunch of scenario information at the beginning of the question when what they’re really asking you is usually found in the last sentence.

We’ve written at length about how to pass multiple choice exams. Those tips still hold true for the LLQP exam.

EXAM TIP #3 – PRACTICE QUESTIONS

One of the best ways to get used to the way they write questions on the exam is to practice. Once you have a good grasp of the material, try to study under pressure. Give yourself a time limit to complete a practice exam.

If you can, try to study and practice in the same part of your house you’ll be sitting in when you write the LLQP exam. The main idea is to simulate a real exam situation so you get used to it.

Fortunately, CISRO has been kind enough to release some sample LLQP exam questions for all 4 modules for free.

EXAM TIP #4 – DON’T SECOND GUESS YOURSELF

This one is controversial but I think it works. Don’t second guess your answers. Unless you see a question later on that directly contradicts what you’ve answered previously, don’t second guess yourself. You chose that answer for a reason and usually if you change your answer, you’ll end up getting it wrong.

EXAM TIP #5 – GET HELP

Not many people can study for and pass the LLQP exam without any help. If you’re in the majority of people that need help, check out our LLQP exam prep course. It’s designed with the same philosophy that has made our general insurance exam prep courses so successful.

In addition to the course, every student gets access to:

  1. A highly qualified and dedicated LLQP tutor
  2. A detailed study and exam roadmap
  3. A pass guarantee and all the support you need to make sure you are successful

I hope you found these LLQP exam tips helpful. Good luck!
