The General Insurance Council of Saskatchewan has more stringent CE credit requirements than most other provinces. In this article, I’ll give you a breakdown of Saskatchewan’s CE Credit requirements & which courses qualify for credit hours.

HOW MANY CE CREDIT HOURS DO I NEED?

This depends on how long you’ve been licensed and whether you hold any professional designations.

Licensed for at least 25 years (continuously) or hold a professional designation (ie. CAIB, CIP, CBIP) ? You only need 8 CE Credit Hours per year.

If you have a Restricted Auto license, you only need 3 CE Credit Hours per year.

Everyone else is required to get a minimum of 12 CE Credit Hours per year. And even if you’re not a resident of SK, you still need to either meet the SK CE requirements or prove that you meet the CE credit requirements of your home province.

WHAT COURSES QUALIFY FOR CE CREDIT HOURS?

For the General Insurance (All Classes) license, all continuing education must be related to general insurance products/services or agency management. Courses or training for sales, technology training or for motivational purposes do not qualify for hours.

If you have a Restricted Auto license, all of your continuing education training must be related to auto insurance products.
