Are you wondering how to sell insurance in Ontario? So are hundreds, maybe even thousands of other people. Insurance is a really rewarding industry to be in with high employment demand, plenty of opportunity for growth and to do different things. But what’s the first step?

STEP 1: STUDY FOR THE RIBO 1 EXAM

If you’ve done your research online before landing on this page, you might have already learnt about RIBO (Registered Insurance Brokers of Ontario). They’re the self-governing body for insurance brokers in Ontario. They handle examinations for insurance brokers, licensing, continuing education, advocacy, etc.

They administer the Entry Level RIBO 1 Exam and it’s the exam all new insurance brokers need to take before they are qualified to become licensed insurance brokers.

STEP 2: PASS THE RIBO 1 EXAM

Once you’ve finished studying and you’re ready, you can request an information package from RIBO. Complete the form on their website and they’ll mail you a package containing the exam and license registration form.

They have exam locations all throughout Ontario & Canada with flexible exam times/dates to choose from. Just complete the form and mail it back to register for the exam.

STEP 3: FIND A SPONSOR

Once you’ve passed the exam, the hard part is over – congratulations! How to complete your license registration, you just need to find an employer to sponsor your license.
