We get questions from a lot of students wondering about how much it costs to get your General Insurance License (GIL) in Alberta. ALBERTA GENERAL INSURANCE LEVEL 1 COSTS
In Alberta, there are 2 costs involved with getting your Level 1 license:
- Alberta General Insurance Level 1 course enrollment through PNC Learning (a AIC GLQP Education Provider): $199
- Alberta Insurance Council (AIC) Alberta Level 1 Exam fee: $50
ALBERTA GENERAL INSURANCE LEVEL 2 COSTS
Once you’ve passed your Level 1 exam, many brokers will want to move forward with their Level 2 licensing so they can take on more responsibilities and work more independently in the industry. In fact, we usually recommend most students get at least their Level 2 license as quickly as possible just to get it done and out of the way.
The cost to get your Level 2 license are:
- Alberta General Insurance Level 2 course enrollment through PNC Learning: $299
- Alberta Level 2 Exam fee: $50
ALBERTA INSURANCE LICENSING COST BREAKDOWN: LEVEL 3
This license is required if you want to be a nominee or principal broker at your office. Most brokers will not need this level but if you do, here are the costs:
- CAIB 4 course enrollment through PNC Learning: $199
- Alberta Level 3 Exam fee: $50
ALBERTA INSURANCE COUNCIL LICENSING FEE
Once you’ve passed the exam and found a job, it’s time to apply for your license with the help of your employer/sponsor. The AIC’s latest fee for new licenses and renewals is $95 but if you’re trying to change or reinstate your license, the fee is only $25.
