RIBO LICENSING PROCESS

The RIBO licensing process for people new to the industry is a pretty straight-forward 3 step process:

While it sounds straightforward, the actual steps are anything but.

RIBO EXAM REGISTRATION

To register for the exam, you need to first request a new broker information form from the RIBO website. When asked about the “type of application/information” select “Entry Level 1 – Basic Broker” if you’re new to the industry and want to get your first license.

After completing this form, you will receive the information package in the mail in a few weeks. This package will include some information on licensing requirements, an introduction to RIBO and your responsibilities as an insurance broker, a copy of the RIB Act, By-laws, and Regulations, and most importantly, your exam and license application form.

Read the instructions carefully to complete the form and choose your desired RIBO exam date and location. When you send the form back, don’t forget to include the required fees and information (ie. criminal record check).

Tip: If you don’t have an employer or sponsor yet, leave that part blank.

AFTER THE EXAM

After you’ve successfully passed the exam (congratulations), you’re now qualified to become an insurance broker. This means you can start looking for jobs in the insurance industry.

I hope this article was able to help you better understand the exam registration process. If you need help with any of these steps (including studying or the job search), contact us and we’ll be happy to help.
