One of the things many students struggle with on the CAIB 4 exam (and indeed all CAIB exams) are how to answer CAIB short answer questions. In this piece, I’m going to be giving 2 CAIB 4 exam tips with examples so you’ll be able to answer questions on the CAIB exams with confidence.

CAIB 4 QUESTIONS EXAM TIP #1 – MAKE YOUR ANSWERS CLEAR

The markers want to give you marks on the exam so make it easy for them by making your answer as clear as possible.

For example, if there is a question asking you for 2 pros and cons of a functional organization, your answer should look something like:

The first pro of a Functional Organization is …, the 2nd pro of a Functional Organization is …” and so on.

This makes it very clear to the marker what your 2 pros and 2 cons are meaning they can confidently award you the mark.

EXAM TIP #2 – MORE POINTS = MORE DETAILS

Generally speaking, the more points they’re awarding for the question, the more details you’ll be expected to give. Typically, they’ll give you 1 mark for identifying the thing and another mark for accompanying details.

For example, if there is an 8 mark question asking you about the 4 components in the Monitoring process, your answer should look something like this:

“One component of the monitoring process is setting Benchmarks & Standards. This involves identifying characteristics of good performance and setting standards for each to form a basis for measuring performance.” and so on.

In the example above, you’ll get 1 mark for identifying “Benchmarks & Standards” and another mark for the brief 1-2 sentence explanation that follows.
